Conclusion of Unit One:
Ethnic Americans of the short stories, "Loverboys," "Sufficing," "The Red Convertible," and "The Buddies" have difficulties in keeping their identities within their respective minority groups, being guaranteed their freedom and rights, and overcoming the sorrow of powerlessness in American society because of the deep-rooted social prejudices and the social-political structure of the majority group members (the Whites).
