Ethnic Americans who are minority group members of American society try to overcome their sorrow of powerlessness by sharing their grief with other people who have common ethnic backgrounds, trying hard to survive in needy circumstances, and letting majority group members (the Whites) know that they are not inferior to them. However, it is not easy to change the Whites' deep-rooted prejudices toward minority groups.
